What better way to make a decision, when it is based on experience.
Meet Sarah and Lewis, 2 of clients of Pilates Republic.
Read their interviews, in which Sandra asked them several questions, that ultimately should give you a good idea of their time with Pilates and Pilates Republic.
Lewis is one of the corporate mat students, who enjoys an hour of Pilates once a week at his office. Sandra teaches there once a week. Keep reading for Lewis' interview:
What's your name and do you mind telling us your age?
Lewis - I'm 26 What do you do for living? I'm a management accountant What is your job like, sitting/standing,...? I sit at my desk for most of the day at work and my posture is pretty far from ideal. Where are you on the scale from Green Goddess Juice to Hot Chocolate and Pizza to Quinoa? All the food - I'm not particularly prejudice about food. I'm pretty healthy most days, but sometimes a Dirty Burger and diet coke are required. However, I try and keep 'snaccidents' to a minimum. About your Pilates: Would you say you are an active person and if yes would you share what you do? I am an active person on weekends mainly. I go to the gym and a long cycle ride. Why did you start Pilates and what were your expectations? My osteopath has always recommended I start Pilates (I've had a bad back since a teenager). When I found out that the company I work for will be offering classes for Pilates, I was immediately on board and hoped it would help with my back, core strength and general stiffness (I was incredibly inflexible). How long have you been doing it and how do feel now? Just over two years, and I feel that it has helped heaps towards improving my back, neck and general core strength. What were you doing when you first realised your Pilates was making an impact? The very next day I knew that Pilates was making a positve impact on both my abs and back. But I suppose it took three or four classes to get into the swing of it fully. What is your favourite part about Pilates and what is your least favourite? I love how there are always improvements and progressions to be made. It means that you can constantly see your improvement. I really struggle with an exercise called the saw - where you twist your torso and reach with one hand to the opposite foot. But I know that it's good for me! Who do you think it is best for? I think it's best for those looking to maintain and improve their back, especially those who work at a desk for most of the day. Even if your back is top notch, the strength and flexibility aspects to the class are great. What top tip would you give to someone thinking of giving it a go? You will most likely be eased in to your first class, so don't expect your stomach to feel like it might after an abs blast class or something similar. Try Pilates at least over three sessions to see if it is right for you so as to build an understanding between you and your instructor about your capabilities. By the third class, it will be a real struggle and you'll be hooked, I practically guarantee it! |
